Color Psychology is BULLSHIT ❌

Alright alright alright…
I know this might be a view that some may not agree with 🤨
With that being said, let me make some points here.
Color is subjective.
Everyone has a feeling associated with color.
For me, red is a comforting color, why? Because when I was a youngster (maybe 5 or 6) I had these red pants (I know, what was I thinking)
These red pants, I wore EVERYWHERE, they were «my safety blanket» 😁
Color is relative & cultural.
When it comes to choosing a color palette for my branding projects, I take these into consideration I think the MAIN point you should start with is COMPETITORS. Period.
There are other factors like target audience, gender, and geographical location.

COLOR lS SUBJECTIVE
Personal history wíth color will effect your feelings toward a specific color.
“Our preference for a specific color can be related to how we feel in any situation, how we want to feel, and even how we remember certain experiences” – Joe Hallock. Principal Design Manager at Microsoft .
COLOR lS RELATIVE
Color communicates differently based on presentation and combinations.
COLOR IS CULTURAL
In most western cultures, white is commonly seen as the color for weddings and festive events. While in China it’s perceived as a mourning color.
COLOR IS SYMBOLIC
Along with culture, we also color to different symbols. For some, yellow will signify the sun, while for others it may symbolize a stoplight.
These symbols are attached to both culture and our own experiences.
HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT COLORS FOR YOUR BRAND?
1. Competitors colors.
2. Cultural data.
3. Target audience’s age.
4. Target audience’s gender.
Cookie cutter approaches to colors are not what drives engagement.
