The Ugly Facts of Being Self-Employed

Despite these ugly truths to being self-employed, many founders would tell you it’s worth it. You will find financial freedom and the type of flexibility you’ve been seeking.

There will be tough times. But as long as you remember why you chose this life and how it blesses you, you’ll be able to work through anything.

1. The other side of the Same Coin. When we talks about self-employment, we often focus on the:
+ Freedom
+ Opportunity, and
+ Flexibility
that comes with running your own business.  What's not often discussed however are the necessary, sometimes unpleasant realities;
+ Long Hours
+ Financial Stress, and
+ Time Commitment
that forces you to miss out on important events.
3. Say goodbye to the Weekend. Unless you're good at compartmentalizing, you'll probably find yourself working all day every day. Younger self-employed workers are sacrificing weekends to kick-start their career.
4. Younger Freelancers Work Hard & Play Hard. Younger self-employed workers are taking a vacation once or twice a year.
5. Majority of Freelancers Work on Vacation. How often freelancers of all age groups work during vacations.
6. Lack of Social Interaction. Unfortunately, missing a social event every week is all too common for self-employed people.
P.S. You deserve to be celebrated because you're truly in a class of your own. Betting on yourself is a risk most are unwilling to take and requires a special kind of strength, grit, and determination. Happy Freelancing.
